The way in which NDY tracks and reports on its sustainability performance continues to evolve with the needs of our business, stakeholders and the broader environment in which we operate.

In 2023 we established an ESG performance scorecard,  which outlines NDY’s overall objectives and is used to track progress across our five priority areas. These are:

1. Reducing our environmental impact and continually improving business performance

NDY has an ambitious Net Zero target and is working to reduce GHG emissions across our business. We offset our remaining emissions through high quality carbon removals, making us Carbon Neutral. NDY is also an ISO14001 certified business which is committed to measuring and improving its impact on the environment. Through our environmental management system, which is coordinated by representatives across each of our offices, we measure and take steps to reduce not just our GHG emissions but also our energy, water, waste, transport and material use.

2. Supporting the health, safety and wellbeing of our people

NDY is ISO45001 certified and committed to maintaining a robust health and safety management system, to ensure the health and wellbeing of our employees and visitors to our premises. We run various initiatives to promote health, safety and wellbeing throughout the year, led by the various offices as well as our Wellbeing Working Group and Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) leaders. We also have various programs to support our staff including NDY Flex, NDY Carers, Cultural Leave, Transitioning to Retirement and Employee Assistance.

3. Engaging and supporting our communities

NDY is committed to supporting the community through our offices and the NDY Charitable Trust through donations, volunteering, fundraising, procurement and as a member of various community initiatives or industry bodies. Our employees regularly participate in numerous local community events organised by our NDY Charitable Trust or our diversity, equity and inclusion working group members.

4. Governance: Leading by example, conducting ethical and sustainable business practices

As a global firm operating in diverse business and social environments, we are proud of our reputation for high ethical standards since we began operations more than 65 years ago. Through policies, procedures and practices, we strive to be ethically, environmentally and socially responsible in all that we do.

5. Delivering leading, innovative and sustainable projects for our clients

We recognise that the biggest positive impact we can have is through the engineering projects we deliver for our clients globally. Our employees are constantly being challenged to enhance our ability to deliver leading, innovative and sustainable solutions. You can read more about these projects here.
