The Position

The Applications and Data Lead is accountable for building, managing and operating fit-for-purpose business applications. This includes workflows and automation of business processes to support the enablement of immediate and future business requirements. He/she shall adopt the latest technology trends (agile, DevOps), innovations, practices and solutions that provide optimum time delivery, productivity, performance and scalability in the most cost-effective manner.

The role is accountable for overseeing, managing, and coordinating all aspects of support, integration and development for business applications gathering requirements, maintaining standards, testing, release management and post deployment support.

The position will involve liaising with stakeholders and Staff on day-to-day issues relating to IT business systems, hardware, software and applications across the NDY Operating Unit. A key part of the role is to liaise with the Tetra Tech Corporate IT team to coordinate IT related activities and coordinate the resolution of IT related issues on behalf of NDY staff.  Overseeing hardware and software procurement / deployment in conjunction Tetra Tech IT team including maintaining database records relating to IT hardware, software licensing and IT expenditure is the responsibility of the Applications and Data Lead.

This role may perform tasks to support Project Leaders/Senior Leaders/Executives through the coordination of professional and confidential IT or administrative services.  This role may also perform tasks functional in nature with a high degree of autonomy, applying technical knowledge and skills as an individual contributor to teams/projects.

A high level of verbal and written communication skills is essential for this role as is a positive and pro-active approach to your work.


To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Demonstrated experience and strong working knowledge of standard software applications, including MS Office, Adobe and operating systems such as Windows
  • Knowledge and experience in the use and application of the Microsoft O365 platform including development applications such as O365 apps, Power Platform development, Advanced Analytics with Power BI and Azure Active Directory is essential
  • Knowledge of engineering software applications such as Autodesk would be advantageous
  • Ability and willingness to become familiar with internally developed applications in order to provide support
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data
  • Industry accreditation or relevant tertiary qualifications is essential
  • Relevant work experience in a similar role with a minimum of 10 years’ experience.

Ideally you will have:

  • Ability to learn quickly, operate without direct supervision and maintain knowledge of current trends in the specific field
  • Well-developed problem solving and analytical skills, including the ability to plan, prioritise work and meet deadlines
  • Highly developed written and verbal interpersonal communication skills and a professional approach and presentation in order to provide outstanding service to a wide range of stakeholders and internal customers
  • Ability to work autonomously and remain calm under high pressure situations
  • Ability to plan, prioritise work and meet required deadlines
  • Consistently demonstrate professional, positive, and approachable attitude/demeanour and discretion with the ability to handle confidential information
  • Familiarity with support and troubleshooting of personal computers, servers and network equipment
  • Customer focussed with a high degree of customer care.

Training and Development

Additionally, the successful candidate will be involved in a wide range of projects from Healthcare facilities through to commercial office developments and retail developments, both as new build and refurbishments.
