The Position

We are looking for:

A project, service, or maintenance engineer in the ICT, MSI, BMS, IoT or Automation & Controls space with at least 3 years of experience. Someone who would like to grow their career into the world of design and consultancy and be responsible for the delivery of smart building consultancy services from inception to construction and operations.

Ideally you will have:

At least 3 years of hands-on experience working in the design, engineering and/or delivery of ICT, MSI, BMS, IoT or Automation & Controls or smart building integration projects, having delivered or participated in projects in the following capacity:

  • Shop drawings, operational and maintenance manuals or functional description drafting
  • System engineering, deployment, troubleshooting and commissioning
  • Front-end graphics engineering, data modelling, or system configuration and setup
  • System maintenance or service support roles
  • An interest or experience in existing building data ontologies such as Haystack, Brick Schema, Real Estate Core, or others. Ideally, having worked with master system integration or system integration platforms like Tridium Niagara or similar IoT platforms
  • Working experience in the integration of typical building low voltage systems, such as lighting systems, access control, vertical transport, utilities metering as well as other IoT-enabled devices and platforms
  • Exposure to other software packages like PLC programming, SCADA, LabView, MATLAB or other modelling tools is well regarded. Exposure to analytical tools or 3rd party applications for Energy Performance, HVAC optimisation and general data analysis is desirable but not central to this role
  • Collaborated and delivered projects not only in commercial offices buildings but potentially other verticals such as retail, shopping centres, health, education, or manufacturing.

This role works with moderate autonomy and applies your technical experience and expertise, and contributes to multidisciplinary teams and projects, working with multiple stakeholders, in a challenging technical environment while managing internal and external customer expectations to meet agreed outcomes and timelines.

The smart buildings discipline, require the applicant to listen to and understand the client’s challenges and requirements to translate them into cutting-edge technology solutions that align with industry best practices, sustainability targets and building codes and regulations. The applicant should demonstrate competency in designing and documenting systems through the concept, development, and commissioning phases.

For this role, the applicant shall demonstrate proficient communication skills as the smart building project engineer interfaces with many other teams and disciplines, including AV, Security, Communications, Lifts, Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Protection, Hydraulics, Lighting, ESD, Fire Engineering and Acoustics.

The applicant should have an affinity for constant learning and stay updated on the latest technology development in the field, as well as build an effective relationship with industry peers, colleagues, and customers to become a leader and develop a professional presence in the smart buildings discipline.

Additionally, this role will provide the opportunity to act as a project leader responsible for the firm’s overall involvement in the project, its administration, project hygiene, technical submissions, and shop drawing and other documentation reviews.

The role offers a great level of on-the-job training opportunities and supports professionals to develop their careers and engage with industry groups and organisations in the building technology space.

Training and Development

NDY has a strong focus on the development of our staff and training will be a key element of this development whether on internal or external training courses.  We will develop a career plan for each staff member that will focus on core elements of your role to provide you with a clear progression in your career path.

Additionally, the successful candidate will be involved in a wide range of projects from Healthcare facilities through to commercial office developments and retail developments, both as new build and refurbishments.
