About the Position
We are looking for:
- A Mechanical Engineer to join our Perth team, providing a full range of mechanical solutions for building services. You will report to the mechanical discipline manager to ensure progress is maintained for timely project delivery.
−Provide input for job costing, time plans and fee preparation activities in consultation with Manager and Project Director.
− Co-ordinate and plan commitments, resources and balance workload across available projects to efficiently and effectively meet project deadlines and cost/fee requirements.
− Involvement in fee preparation activities co-ordinated through the Manager and Office Director.
− Competent at designing and documenting systems through concept, design development and detailed documentation phases.
− Act as Project Leader (or assist the Project Leader) responsible for the firm’s overall involvement on the project and the administration of design interface between disciplines.
− This role must ensure all NDY activities and designs are fully coordinated with all projects implemented in line with NDY’s Project Management methodology.
− Review technical submissions by Contractors and Sub-Contractors and the quality of construction against the specified requirements.
− Undertake Construction Administration on projects, designed by NDY.
− Ensure NDY’s IMS System is implemented and maintained on projects, which may require quality assurance reviews for peer projects.
− Identifies process inefficiencies and discusses with manager and/or raises Suggestion For Improvement (SFI)
− Manage Norman Disney & Young’s involvement in projects so that work is completed efficiently whilst meeting client needs.
− Identify and engage clients and key stakeholders, ensuring that expectations are known, managed and fulfilled, within program and project constraints. Liaise with Contractors and Sub-Contractors to address construction-related documentation issues.
− Attend site meetings as appropriate and report on the status of the work and any items of concern.
− Ensure clients’ requirements, deliverables and level of documentation is clearly defined with sufficient pre-notification.
− Creates submissions and presentations that have minimal requirement for correction and address client perspective and market NDY effectively and accurately
− Act as a primary interface between staff and senior leaders.
− Translates deliverables into a clear schedule of work and where reliant upon others to provide information is clear about requirement and associated deadline.
– Functions effectively and efficiently by delegating tasks as appropriate to more Junior Engineers and Drafting staff.
Ideally you will have:
- At least 4 years post graduate experience in consultancy
- Strong self motivation and personal drive
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Be competent with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint)
- Have an understanding of relevant calculation packages such as Trace700 by Trane, and preferably be able to use Revit modelling software
- CPEng accredited or actively working towards becoming a Chartered Professional engineer will be highly regarded
You will use your experience and technical ability to manage resources, financial performance, and delivery of multi-discipline projects as a project co-ordinator, complete engineering analysis and design of HVAC systems as well as liaise with clients, contractors and other project stakeholders. You will apply the latest technologies to our ever-expanding workload of building services. You will verify design work carried out in the business and provide mentoring, coaching and training to less experienced engineers and project co-ordinators.
