Norman Disney & Young (NDY) a Tetra Tech Company, is delighted to confirm Mark McKenna’s appointment as NDY’s Global Sustainability Director.

For the past four years Mark has led NDY’s Global Sustainability Group and helped grow our reputation as a leading sustainable design firm across our global markets, expanding our offering in New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Australia. During his nine years working in the business, Mark has collaborated with some of our most valued clients and led various high-profile engagements, from advisory work for the New Zealand Green Investment Fund, to building projects such as Perth Children’s Hospital, Optus Stadium and more recently government advisory for the new Powerhouse Museum and Entertainment Precinct.

Mark is also committed to Tetra Tech’s High-Performance Buildings Group (TTHPBG) sustainability efforts, along with colleagues Whitney Smith, Sustainability Director of Sustainability Services at Cosentini Associates and Nicole Isle, Chief Sustainability Strategist at Glumac; guided by NDY CEO Stuart Fowler – President of the TTHPBG.

As the architect of NDY’s recent carbon neutral commitment, Mark will lead implementation of the company’s soon to be published 2030 ESG Framework and sustainability commitments into the global Decade of Action1, as well as continuing to work with our clients; partnering with them to deliver sustainable outcomes.

About Mark McKenna

Global Sustainability Director

Mark is NDY’s Global Sustainability Director and joined the company in 2011. He oversees NDY’s multi-national team of sustainability consultants and he has a fundamental role in shaping the company approach and strategic direction for sustainability. Mark has overall responsibility for performance of the sustainability group and he reports directly into the NDY group executive committee.

Mark has diverse experience working in Sustainability & Heritage Architecture, Research, Academia and Engineering.

Sustainability has been a fundamental aspect of his career roles to date and this broad experience has prepared him well for working within different levels in client organisations. Mark is equally adept at engaging with executive-level stakeholders as he is delivering technical ESD advice; and this one of his greatest strengths in a major project setting.

Major government, tertiary and private organisations trust Mark to look after their interests on large complex projects. Mark has worked directly on client side in advisory and/or verification capacities to de-risk projects and drive a successful sustainability outcome. Equally, clients trust Mark to deliver large complex sustainability projects.
