Westpac Barangaroo office awarded Highest Green Star rating in Australia
Sustainability has become a key consideration in the modern office fitout. Besides the environmental concerns, reducing waste and improving efficiency can be beneficial to lowering operational costs.
This is why it is so significant that Westpac Group’s fit-out in Tower Two of Barangaroo’s International Towers Sydney has achieved a 6 Star Green Star Interiors rating from the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA). The project received the highest number of Green Star points achieved by any office fit-out in Australia.
Green Star assesses the sustainable design, construction and operation of buildings, fitouts and communities. The Green Star rating is based on a combination of factors, including resource usage, materials used in the fitout, sustainable processes, transport options and innovation.
Norman Disney & Young (NDY) was a key contributor to this project, providing mechanical, electrical and communications services that met the requirements to achieve the 6 star rating.
Notable design features of the fit-out include an extensive metering system that monitors major energy and water usage, using materials with lower environmental impact such as 95% reused, recycled, certified or best practice timber and PVC amongst other features.
