The River Quay development is an award-winning waterfront dining precinct located at the river front of Southbank Brisbane. The 538 square metre site incorporates an open restaurant concept with uninterrupted views of the Brisbane river. Level 1 has five standalone restaurants with all plant located on the mezzanine level.

Southbank Corporation’s vision for the project was to create a dynamic commercially viable activity hub with a uniquely Brisbane feel. Key design constraints for NDY was the integration of services into the feature timber ceilings and walls. Services needed to be hidden to maintain the clean interior and exterior finish of the building.

Utilisation of low maintenance services was considered in the design incorporating energy efficient LED lighting fixtures and mechanical plant equipment. NDY was responsible for ensuring all tenancy requirements were met including air conditioning to the whole building, kitchen exhaust base building provisions and provision for accommodating medium/low temperature cold room refrigeration units.

Electrical and Communication services provided power submains to the existing switchboards throughout the parklands (using existing cabling), incorporated basic lighting and single power outlets to each of the tenancies and lighting to back of house areas including stores and amenities.

NDY was also responsible for the services fitout of the Stokehouse restaurant which included a restaurant, private dining/function space at the mezzanine level, bar area and associated kitchen and back of house areas including modification to the existing amenities area to the rear of the river building and additional amenities for staff and patrons.
