Case study: Regional authority BESS project
Major energy provider

NDY’s fire and structural engineering teams have been engaged for multiple BESS installations within city council sites as part of an initial pilot scheme to establish a network of community batteries in existing council infrastructure around the city.

Our services included an initial feasibility study for a group of target sites, including advice on key fire safety and building interface considerations as well as initial liaison with the fire brigade to clarify their requirements. Following this we undertook fire risk assessments, performance-based design briefs and fire engineering reports as well as authority liaison to support building permit applications. Additionally, we undertook structural reviews of new loads from proposed battery installations and designed platforms to safely support these systems.
