The Position
This leadership role is pivotal in enhancing our business and team by leveraging strong Mechanical Engineering technical expertise to ensure alignment across offices in terms of quality, methodology, verification, and overall technical solution approach, with the goal of delivering the best solutions for our clients and NDY. Consistency and quality assurance will be key to managing risk. Strong leadership will be required as you foster collaboration, ensuring teams support each other and deliver work as a cohesive unit. This role combines the responsibilities of a Technical Manager and Industry Leader.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply engineering management skills to develop and implement business plans for a major operational function within NDY, ensuring solid performance over time
- Provide leadership and direction to a team of Mechanical Engineering professionals including resource managers, team leaders, project leaders, and technical specialists
- As a Leader, be accountable for achieving the team’s business plan objectives, driving profitable growth, maintaining the department’s reputation, and ensuring overall operating performance of the department and the wider office
- Contribute to local office strategies and business plans, working collaboratively across the office and the wider business to support group-wide profitability and achieve strategic objectives
- Strategically pursue local opportunities, lead project pursuits, and sales presentations for all major projects
- Take a lead role in major submissions, determining the game plan, and preparing and presenting submissions
- Develop and implement marketing and sales strategies, providing oversight and support to teams in preparing and submitting proposals
- Establish and nurture key client relationships, acting as an ambassador for the NDY legacy at key and official occasions.
Who we’re looking for:
- We are seeking someone with a minimum of 5-10 years of technical experience, gained in the mechanical sector, who has managed a variety of projects across the full systems development lifecycle, and taken responsibility for delivering large and complex projects
- A strong focus on people management is crucial, fostering a positive and collaborative team environment within the office
- The ideal person will maintain knowledge of economic and building services market trends in both the geographic and sector markets we currently operate in, as well as future opportunities that may arise. This ensures the office is well-positioned to capitalize on those opportunities to grow and develop the business in priority areas
- This role requires balancing the development and execution of strategic growth plans while overseeing office operations and Technical Manager responsibilities, in line with annual business planning targets and objectives
- Building strong capability across multiple disciplines and growing the office profitably is essential. Managing varied and conflicting demands to meet agreed standards and timelines, and working with multiple stakeholders in a complex environment, establishing effective working relationships across the Group, are key aspects of this role.
Training and Development
NDY has a strong focus on the development of our staff and training will be a key element of this development whether on internal or external training courses. We will develop a career plan for each staff member that will focus on the core elements of your role to provide you with a clear progression in your career path.
