The Position

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer with a strong focus on energy to join our core Engineering teams in London. This role is pivotal in reducing in-use energy consumption across a central London portfolio, primarily focusing on commercial office projects, but also extending to hotel, residential, and retail sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead multi-disciplinary projects as a Workstream Leader, ensuring sustained reduction in energy consumption and applying deep technical expertise on complex tenanted projects.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and leverage design and construction experience to drive energy reduction and support decarbonisation efforts.
  • Oversee NDY’s project involvement to ensure efficient completion while meeting client needs. Effectively identify and engage clients and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to job costing, time planning, and fee preparation in collaboration with the Manager and Project Director. Monitor project workloads and advise on resource requirements.
  • Mentor less experienced team members and manage a small team by effectively delegating tasks and sharing knowledge.
  • Communicate effectively with staff at all levels, including technical staff across multiple disciplines and clients.
  • Exercise substantial initiative, high-level judgement, and work independently to achieve objectives.
  • Demonstrate well-developed problem-solving skills and maintain a high level of technical competence.
  • Work on older buildings with minimal information, relying heavily on experience and engineering judgement.

Who we’re looking for

  • Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in building services design.
  • Recognised engineering qualification.
  • Previous experience as a project leader or project manager with multi-disciplinary project teams, including managing project resources and finances.
  • Experience in designing commercial office buildings is advantageous.
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with staff across various technical backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with the full range of RIBA design stages, particularly from Stage 1 to Stage 4A is desirable.
