The existing on grade car park at Belgrave Station is undergoing a redevelopment into a new multideck, premium car park adjacent to the rail corridor in Belgrave. With vehicle spaces over four levels, the upgrade will replace the current car park and comfortably serve the station and surrounding community.
The scope includes upgrades to the existing pedestrian paths, bus interchange, and access roads to ensure safety and accessibility for all commuters.
NDY is engaged as the structural, civil and building services consultant for this important VicTrack development. The project includes complicated civil engineering works, with a bus interchange and turning circle, as well as 24 hour clear VicTrack crane access through the middle of the site.
NDY structures have worked closely with the contractor, ADCO Constructions, to limit formwork propping on the project, to allow a rail access maintenance path through the construction site. The band beams are propped only, allowing for a significantly accelerated construction programme.
Some of the key project features include:
- Rail collision barrier installed along the entire north boundary of the carpark
- Slimdek metal tray used for unpropped and accelerated construction
- Provision for electric vehicles integrated in the design
- Natural ventilation achieved through perforated facade screens.
