The Position

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to get involved in the early stages of building our team in Ireland and help further strengthen our technical capabilities in Europe whilst working on landmark projects.

You will be part of our global mechanical team, based in Dublin. The role will cover various sectors including, but not limited to Commercial (including Shell & Core and Office fit-outs), Residential, Hotels, Retail, Mixed Use developments and Data Centres.

This role will make a difference to our business and team in the following ways:

Senior Project Engineer responsible for the delivery of engineering services from design through to construction. The Project Leader is responsible for the delivery of medium and large sized single and multi-disciplinary projects. 

This role primarily works independently applying deep technical knowledge and skills on large/complex projects. May be involved in mentoring less experienced team members, act as a Project Leader responsible for project performance over time and/or manage a small team (typically 1-2 direct reports).

Attributes

You will have:

  • A minimum of 5 years (ideally 8-10) engineering experience in the field of mechanical building services design
  • A recognised mechanical engineering qualification
  • Well-developed understanding of relevant Standards
  • Well developed understanding of Project Stages and Delivery methods (e.g. full design, design and construct)
  • Previous project leader/project management experience with multi-disciplinary project teams, including managing project resources and project finances
  • Experience designing commercial office buildings.
  • Highly effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with staff at all levels as well as with different technical backgrounds
  • The ability to exercise substantial initiative and high-level judgement and to work autonomously to meet objectives
  • Familiarity with the full range of RIBA design stages, from Stage 1 right through to Stage 4A tender design
  • A working level understanding of other engineering disciplines including electrical, public health and fire protection is highly desirable.

You will be expected to:

  • Support our brand in the market by providing superior client service and promoting our interests and reputation
  • Play an active role in ensuring a harmonious, safe and productive work environment for yourself and others in the workplace by maintaining a high standard of performance and conduct in accordance with NDY’s Values, Code of Conduct, policies and procedures and reasonable business directives
  • Act as the project leader for internal multi-disciplinary engineering project teams, predominantly for Ireland based commercial office projects
  • Represent NDY at external project meetings with the client and external design teams
  • Co-ordinate mechanical services designs with other building services disciplines and with external parties including architects and structural engineers
  • Project management including resourcing and managing project finances
  • Manage multiple projects and successfully dealing with conflicting obligations
  • Ensure that NDY’s Quality System is implemented and maintained on projects
  • Develop Project Leader skills in line with work opportunities
  • Participate in developing the Mechanical team technical capability
  • Take part in personal and professional development training as required
  • Assist in developing technical capability of more junior Mechanical Engineers.
