The project delivered an international data centre for a world leading telecommunications operator, China Mobile International Limited (CMI), who called upon the mission critical expertise of NDY to design CMI’s first UK data centre.
NDY acted as lead consultant, managing the entire design team to develop the design of this brown field site for CMI to deliver a high-density data centre space.
The design made allowance for a future expansion capability. During the construction phase NDY was appointed to complete the expansion design which has been sent to market for costing.
Features and Innovations
- The building services for the data centre have been designed to provide high density, resilient and flexible solutions for critical power and cooling systems
- The design was lead with energy efficiency in mind, leading to a very low PUE
- Air cooled free cooling chillers and variable speed chilled water CRAC units provide the best utilisation of available internal space
- Elevated CHW temperatures provide good energy efficiency in the chilled water system and maximise the use of free cooling
- Full N+N redundancy for the IT power supply system
- The Data Centre is Tier III Uptime Accredited for both its design and construction.
