Cross River Rail (CRR) is a 10.2 km rail line travelling from Dutton Park to Bowen Hills in Queensland. The underground railway project includes 5.9 km of twin tunnels beneath the Brisbane River as well as the redevelopment of stations within the city’s CBD. This high profile railway is Queensland’s largest public transport infrastructure project to date, encompassing complex engineering design and innovation.
NDY is independent certifier (PIC) or technical design assessor on the project, working to identify and resolve potential issues with the design teams, compliance with standards and advise APP on certification outcomes. During the construction phase, NDY will provide surveillance support to the wider Consultant IC team to assess whether construction works have been carried out in accordance with the certified design and technical specifications within the project brief.
Alongside project partners SMEC, Arcadis and the ARCS Group, this landmark project is being delivered in partnership with the private sector through 3 major infrastructure packages of work:
- The Tunnel, Stations and Development (TSD) public-private partnership
- The Rail, Integration and Systems (RIS) alliance
- European Train Control System (ETCS) contract.
The project will deliver:
- Four new underground stations at Boggo Road, Woolloongabba, Albert Street and Roma Street
- 2 upgraded stations at Dutton Park and Exhibition
- 6 upgraded stations from Salisbury to Fairfield on Brisbane’s Southside
- Development of 3 new Gold Coast stations.
A major public transport infrastructure project set to help the Brisbane economy grow, CRR will improve community quality of life, generate thousands of jobs and stimulate urban development across the South East Queensland rail network.
