The 7,000 m² plaza forms part of stage one of the RNA Showgrounds Regeneration Project. The RNA Showgrounds will be one of Brisbane’s best mixed use destinations and will be home to 3,000 residents, 8,000 office workers and whilst catering for leading conventions and exhibitions throughout the year.
Ekka Plaza will be enhanced and celebrated as the true heart of the RNA Showgrounds, characterised by an open and accessible plaza space.
The plaza is a public space used as the principal entrance and arrival point to the newly developed Royal International Convention Centre, RNA show grounds and importantly the Ekka, Brisbane’s local show.
NDY has designed services for a flexible public facility which allows the area to be used as exhibition space for vendors as well as leisure space for the general public.
The new plaza will feature state-of-the-art Wi-Fi and fibre optic facilities; upper and lower terrace areas; a combination of small to medium shrubs and mature trees to provide shade.
