Auckland

Stephen began his career over 40 years ago in the UK as an engineer apprentice in ship building and repair, going on to gain an honours degree and becoming chartered. He transferred his skills into building services over 30 years ago, and now has extensive experience in the design, documentation and investigation of mechanical/hydraulic services for data centres, commercial buildings, hospital, airports, universities, laboratories, military facilities, schools and residential developments. He has also undertaken many engineering services reviews, forensic engineering and expert witness work, and is a specialist in assessing building designs for risk of condensation.

“It is very pleasing to become a director which I anticipate will enhance my effectiveness in contributing to making spaces work. My thanks particularly to the current NZ team.”

Tim is the Global Technical Director for the NDY acoustics team – in charge of maintaining the highest level of technical competence and quality of deliverables across the wider NDY group. He is the President of the Acoustical Society of New Zealand and has contributed various technical papers for the betterment of knowledge in the field of acoustics.

“NDY has been a part of my family since graduation and has given me the opportunity to work on many exciting projects, globally. I am extremely grateful for the recognition this appointment offers as a technical leader in the acoustics industry.”

Thomas is an Associate Director and manager of the NDY Auckland acoustic team. Having over 11 years’ experience as an acoustic engineer, he has worked on key projects across New Zealand and Australia, including six years in the NDY Melbourne office where he became acoustic section manager. His experience covers several sectors including environmental noise assessments, defence, office, residential, health, education, and corrections.

James is a senior mechanical engineer at NDY and has 15 years’ experience across a number of market sectors including healthcare, commercial offices, industrial, retail and education. His experience in working with NDY and a market leading contracting company has rewarded him with a diverse skill set and a broad knowledge of the building services industry.

Hans has over 9 years’ overseas experience in building services, infrastructure design and consulting. He has provided technical advisory and E2E project management services on large single and multi-disciplinary projects across the various sectors of the built environment. Hans relocated to Aotearoa New Zealand in mid-2019 joining the NDY Auckland office as an electrical engineer.

Brisbane

Daniel has worked from the NDY Brisbane and NDY London offices over the past 11 years, leading major project delivery with a mechanical background. He enjoys working on complex projects across research, health and commercial sectors. He has recently acted as project leader on a $120 m greenfield commercial development, an $80 m containment-cleanroom research and production facility, a $1 b commercial glasshouse research and production facility and a large animal containment research facility in Brisbane as well as a £100 m commercial development and a £100 m mixed-use development in London. Daniel joined NDY Brisbane’s mechanical design team in 2012 and worked out of NDY London 2015–2019.

“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to work on the exciting and challenging projects I’ve been involved with during my time at NDY, that have taken me as far afield as work in London, Italy, the Pilbara, Thursday Island and my home of Brisbane. Gavin is an electrical engineer with a secondary degree in business. He has a very strong practical background with experience within the electrical contracting, estimating, drafting, engineering and consulting aspects of the building services sector.

Andrew is an electrical engineer and has exposure in the electrical, communications, audio visual and security services fields. Andrew has developed a strong knowledge base across a wide range of highly diverse projects across multiple building sectors including education facilities, laboratories, healthcare, industrial facilities, transport and aviation, sporting venues, retail, offices and hotels.

Canberra

Sofie is a Chartered Professional Engineer and accredited fire protection engineer, pursuing a second master’s degree in fire safety engineering. She has over 15 years of building industry experience, including designing, documenting, and investigating fire protection services in the industrial, residential, commercial, aged care, and health sectors. She is now expanding her knowledge in fire safety engineering to comprehend fire safety systems from both perspectives, with the goal of Making Spaces Work.

London

Ashley is a highly motivated and experienced design engineer with ambition, energy and an interest in sustainable technologies. He has worked on a wide range of projects with a range of architects and has an awareness of new and innovative technologies. This experience gives him a good knowledge of the design process, where he often takes a leading role.

Alex has extensive experience of leading the sustainable design of high-profile projects across the UK built environment. Alex holds a PhD in Net Zero Building Design and is a chartered engineer and full member of CIBSE. He leads our sustainability offering in the region, covering operational building performance, sustainable design and construction and strategic advisory services for our clients.

Sabrina has 9 years’ experience, leading projects across a variety of sectors, including residential, higher education, healthcare, offices and refurbishment projects. Sabrina is a highly motivated, and technically competent Chartered Professional Engineer, and takes pride in delivering a high-quality project for her clients.

Andrew has a strong background in sustainable design and analysis on projects in the built environment in the United Kingdom and around the world. Andrew brings technical acumen and experience in whole-lifecycle-carbon-assessments (WLCAs), complimented by strong skills in visual communication. He brings experience in developing bespoke sustainability strategies to help clients deliver on relevant KPI’s from the early stages of design for masterplans, offices, residential developments, mixed us developments, and airports.

Melbourne

Ben has been a key team member of the NDY Melbourne office for over 16 years, originally with a technical focus on hydraulic services design. As a project leader and project director, he has successfully led many complex multi discipline project teams. Ben is currently part of the Melbourne office executive team and is responsible for activity within the civic market sector, where he is considered a leader in design delivery and stakeholder engagements, working closely with our clients who specialise in this market.

Maisam is the Regional Manager of the NDY fire engineering group. Maisam has been involved with numerous projects over the years with extensive experience in the healthcare, residential, retail, educational, entertainment, office, industrial, correctional and aviation facilities. Maisam is a Chartered Professional Engineer in the areas of fire safety engineering and project management.

Over the last almost eight years at NDY, I have had the privilege to lead a highly talented group of fire engineers and deliver numerous landmark projects for our valued clients. Tony is a fire safety engineer with over 12 years of consultancy experience in Australia. Tony has recently taken on a broader client strategy and market sector lead role within the Melbourne office.

Charles is a Chartered Professional Engineer who leads the Melbourne asset performance team and Victorian defence sector. With over 10 years’ experience, he is responsible for project performance, development of team strategy, employee engagement and business development. He is also responsible for the delivery of larger multi-disciplinary projects within the existing buildings group.

As the leader of the Melbourne mission critical design team, Brendan oversees the design of critical systems for high-risk businesses. His responsibilities include infrastructure master planning, technical design, upgrades for existing facilities, peer and due diligence reviews, and operational improvement initiatives. With extensive experience in brownfield data centre sites, Brendan is well-versed in performing upgrade works while ensuring facility resiliency is maintained. He has also been instrumental in introducing photovoltaic solar design as a new business offering for NDY in the Melbourne office through which he has gained extensive experience in feasibility assessments, design, and construction management of photovoltaic solar arrays, both for new and existing facilities. Additionally, Brendan serves as a member of the Melbourne executive team, where he is responsible for driving innovation and improvements across the Melbourne office.

Matt leads NDY’s smart building team in Melbourne and is the technical representative for NDY Digital and the group technical director’s forum. Matt joined NDY in 2016 and has multidisciplinary experience through the core services and project leadership before specialising in control systems, ICT and smart buildings giving him a well industry view.

“I started my career with NDY in London. Moving to Melbourne during the tail end of the pandemic and building up the Melbourne smart buildings team has been both challenging and rewarding. It has been a great experience to see the differences between how different world markets operate, be part of the Melbourne team and work towards tackling industry problems in a fast-developing part of our industry that is also so intertwined with the core services that NDY offers.”

Stephen has taken a lead role in many electrical, communications, health ICT and audio visual projects starting from user group consultation through to detailed design, documentation, project leadership, and implementation. Stephen has extensive experience in electrical, communications and audio visual systems in hospitals since beginning his career as an electrical engineer in 2007.

Joining NDY in 2001, Thang has over 21 years’ experience on a wide variety of projects including high rise, commercial, government, education, healthcare, defence, residential and retail developments.

Since joining NDY in 2015, Mason has had the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of mechanical projects in both the new and existing buildings teams. Mason also spent a period of time seconded to Engineering Commissioning Services (ECS) where he gained experience in commissioning and integrated testing for all building services.

Perth

Renee has extensive knowledge in building services and experience in commercial consulting and industrial sector. Her experienced portfolio covers mixed use development, fitout work, residential, sport/leisure, commercial, education, leisure centres, hotel/ restaurant/bar and industrial sectors for both local authorities and private clients.

Tom is the manager of the Perth sustainability team and he is a key member of the global sustainability group with a wealth of experience delivering sustainability services across multiple project types, including mixed-use precincts, new and existing commercial, large multi-unit residential, education, health, retail, master planning and rail.

Mark has more than 17 years of experience in the construction industry, most of which was gained through professional engineering consulting after significant early practical experience as an electrician. Possessing a keen eye for detail, Mark has extensive knowledge of verification roles, peer review tasks, and services coordination. Mark has experienced a variety of roles in diverse sectors including infrastructure, mission critical, education, healthcare, commercial office, retail, rail, aviation, Residential, and laboratories. Mark has led Sydney NDY’s commercial interiors and asset performance sectors for the past 18-months.

“I am delighted to have achieved a promotion to the position of director at NDY. Goran Muratbegovic is a building services consultant at NDY with over 16 years’ experience in the field, having worked on numerous iconic projects in Sydney and across Australia. He is currently acting as market sector leader for residential, aged care and hotel markets in New South Wales. Goran holds a Master of Architectural Science degree in High Performance Buildings from the University of Sydney, majoring in Building Services.

John has a wealth of experience in the ICT and security industry. Having worked as an ICT and security project and commissioning engineer previously, John has provided engineering and design solutions for various sectors such as justice and critical infrastructure, and commercial buildings.

Kristina is an enthusiastic electrical engineer, with experience in working on projects related to the building services sector. Kristina is strongly focused on the design of electrical installations, grounding and lightning protection systems, conducting energy audits, and allocating resources for residential, retail and commercial buildings.

Vancouver

Warrick is the mechanical section manager in Vancouver, bringing over 18 years of experience to the table. Warrick has strong technical knowledge and prides himself on his quality of documentation. Whether designing a project from concept to completion, performing quality check on completed work or managing a multidiscipline design team Warrick is an asset to any design team.

“Being promoted to associate director is a great validation of the quality work completed by myself and my colleagues in both the Perth and Vancouver offices. Wellington

Andrew has been with NDY since 2008 after graduating from Victoria University of Wellington with a Master of Building Science. His passion lies with leading the engineering and operations pillar and the electrical team in Wellington, lighting modelling and building simulation analysis, as well as having a keen interest in environmental science. He loves seeing his design concepts come to life and takes great pleasure in watching our sustainable, innovative and well-engineered design solutions take physical form in the built environment.

Sean a registered Chartered Professional Engineer, International Professional Engineer and is also a chartered member of Engineering New Zealand. He brings to the table 10 years of project experience from Singapore and then New Zealand. His skillset includes extensive experience in HVAC design, while one of his greatest strengths is his financial and time management.

Jesse manages NDY Wellington’s BIM and digital engineering space. He is proficient in 3D building information modelling and services coordination. Jesse brings ten years’ industry experience in designing and modelling across the building services, oil & gas and architectural sectors.
