NDY’s sustainability team worked directly with AMP Capital to develop its 2030 Corporate Sustainability Strategy, which was officially launched in 2019. This work included due diligence with respect to AMP’s real estate assets, and independent analysis of strategy risks, exposure and targets.
The strategy aims to address key sustainability challenges including climate change, waste, biodiversity, social impact, accessibility, and supply chain sustainability with targets such as:
- Net zero carbon for scope one and two emissions
- Create a biodiversity conservation reserve equivalent in area to its entire managed real estate portfolio
- Improve accessibility for the one in five people who have a disability across its managed assets
- Implement improved supply chain governance and work with partners to identify and address ESG-related supply chain risks such as modern slavery and materials safety.
NDY has, on two separate occasions, had sustainability team members on part-time secondment roles to develop and implement processes for strategy sub-components, draft investor briefings, undertake further gap analyses and screening, and support GRESB reporting.
AMP Capital values NDY’s advisory work because we understand their buildings as well as we do their organisation – and we marry this information to provide a top-to-bottom comprehensive offering. Some of our key completed and current projects with AMP Capital include:
- 700 Bourke Street, Melbourne
- 255 George Street, Sydney
- Macquarie Town Centre Redevelopment, Sydney
- Archives New Zealand, Wellington
- 109 Featherston Street, Wellington.
NDY also supported AMP Capital Real Estate in the delivery of their annual GRESB submission and annual Real Estate Sustainability report. GRESB was submitted for all eligible AMP Capital funds and included data gathering, quality assurance and third party auditing. The GRESB submission was submitted ahead of deadline and all funds maintained their 5 Star GRESB rating, which recognises entities placed in the top 20% of the benchmark.
Further, the AMP Capital Retail Trust (ACRT) received Sector Leader status in the 2022 GRESB Real Estate Assessment – Standing Investments Benchmark recognising ACRT as a Regional Sector Leader in the Oceania, Australia and Retail categories. AMP Capital’s Real Estate Sustainability report is a public report generated annually to communicate progress against AMP Capital’s 2030 Sustainability Strategy.
