Fox Studios Australia is 20th Century Fox’s first major studio development outside North America. Located in the heart of Sydney, this complex was developed to provide a comprehensive set of infrastructure for the production of movies, commercials and television series. The development features eight major sound and television stages varying from 750 m² to 4000 m².

The 24 hectare site also includes post production facilities for film editing, sound and music recording and editing, digital image manipulation and special effects, communication links and facilities for domestic and international transfer or image and sound, and production and general administration offices.

At the heart of the studio are six main stages, providing over one hectare of stage space. Five of the stages are purpose-built, while the largest –Stage 1– is a converted red brick heritage pavilion, fully restored and fitted out to offer more than 3500 m² of floor space.

The stages are fibre optic-linked, sound-proofed, air and temperature controlled and have three phase power at both gantry and floor level. Lighting in stages 5 and 6 is delivered via motorised hoists. All stages have been designed to meet the exacting standards of the international film and television industry, with flexibility in design.

Extensive production facilities and office space are provided, including film and tape editing, sound recording and mixing suites, design, title, effects, CGI animation and compositing facilities.

The on-lot preview theatres were designed for a 35 mm dual system, double headed projectors with variable aspect ratios and full dolby digital stereo.

The department/wardrobe building has a large open plan work/storage area with five independent offices. Laundries with large capacity industrial washing machines and dryers, drying and dyeing rooms, sewing areas and breakdown rooms are included. Make up rooms feature both natural and specialised lighting and large wall mounted mirrors.

Two construction workshops are housed in one building, allowing them to be opened into a single large space for productions with extensive requirements. The site also features multiple craftshops for the manufacture of props, models, special effects, scenic art, vehicles and set dressing.

Catering is provided by independent caterers with each production allocated a catering area adjacent to power outlets, water supply and grease traps.
