This $5 m tower upgrade for St Vincent’s Private Hospital in Kangaroo Point Queensland involved the refurbishment of two ward floors (Levels 2 & 3) and the complete upgrade of Level 8 to a Pain Management Clinic. This included day procedure theatre, recovery and support facilities.
As an ageing hospital, with low floor to ceiling heights and unusual structure, it made the design challenging. However, collaboration between the project team resulted in the strategic use of bulkheads and lowered the ceilings, enabling installation of all in-ceiling services.
From a worn out and tired looking facility, the new wards and Pain Management Clinic have elevated the hospital into a modern and fit for purpose facility which will serve St Vincent’s Private Hospital well for many years to come.
