Westfield Stratford City was redeveloped to meet increased retail, commercial and residential demand as a result of the 2012 London Olympics. It is now a major destination for both residential and commercial purposes.
The redevelopment included new shopping areas of approximately 1.4 million square feet. The works included new retail centres, offices, hotels, residential areas and large open public spaces with squares and covered street areas, dynamic facades and links to three public interchanges.
Features and innovations include:
- Connection to a local trigeneration energy centre delivering heating and cooling infrastructure
- Integrated communication infrastructure including the BMS, site management system, security, radio and audio visual systems
- The project has achieved an ‘Excellent’ rating under the BREEAM Environmental Retail assessment method.
