The refurbishment includes upgrades to various parts of the hotel to replace mechanical and electrical (M&E) equipment and reduce energy, waste and water consumption. Air-to-air heat exchangers will be used to temper the incoming fresh air, reducing the load and energy consumption of fan coil units while enhancing user comfort. Energy efficient lighting and controls systems will be implemented as part of the upgrade.

The building is heritage listed, making it a challenge to integrate the new services. New systems must work harmoniously with existing systems whilst being sympathetic to the existing appearance and structure. NDY took a very proactive approach by undertaking detailed surveys of existing equipment and tailoring the installation and commissioning requirements to make best use of both new and existing equipment.

A key requirement to improve the location and appearance of M&E equipment. NDY selected solutions that were cost effective but also aligned with the architect’s vision for each space.  The hotel operator and its guests will benefit from the latest M&E technology and equipment, reduced maintenance and a reduced carbon footprint.
