Converted to a contemporary and creative office space, the heritage listed building at 115 Batman Street received an upgrade to the end-of-trip facilities that showcases innovation and a creative approach, while providing essential amenities to the tenants.
The focus of the project was on optimising space to accommodate necessary facilities within a space of approximately 50 m². By working closely with the design team, the services were strategically planned to occupy minimal space while still meeting scope requirements.
Careful coordination was a key aspect of the project, particularly concerning existing services and limited head height clearances. Our team successfully navigated these challenges, including working around the incoming building gas main. By effectively managing these constraints, we were able to maintain the required clearances and ensure smooth integration of the facilities.
One notable achievement is the implementation of a mechanical solution that avoided the need to cut the heritage listed facade. This demonstrates a thoughtful approach to preserving the building’s historical integrity.
In terms of specific facilities, the end-of-trip area includes:
- DDA compliant shower and toilet
- 6 showers
- 2 toilets
- drying cabinet
- electronic lockers
- ironing equipment
- hair straighteners and dryers.
Using innovative solutions to address the complex requirements in a limited space, our team delivered an end-of-trip facility that’s both functional and convenient.
