The Jewish Community Centre (JCC) for London is a vibrant community organisation which provides a broad range of cultural services to London’s Jewish community and those interested in Jewish culture.
The new JCC building located to the north of Central London provides a physical home for this organisation. Facilities provided include:
- Multi-purpose performance space
- Film screening venue
- Public foyer and social spaces
- Dance studios
- Educational facilities
- Nursery
- Administrative offices.
This complex brief was incorporated within a four storey pavilion building with an external public piazza space. Also included on the site were a number of residential units within a separate building.
In keeping with the client’s brief to achieve exemplary credentials in sustainability, the design developed by NDY in conjunction with architects Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands targets a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating and Code for Sustainable Homes level 4.
